Haiti - Environment : The situation is gradually improving in Haiti

This morning at 6:00 the National Meteorological Centre (CNM) informs that ISAAC continues more rapidly its trajectory north-east on Cuba. Its center has therefore, for the moment no direct effect on Haiti and the Dominican Republic. However, it indicates that heavy rain, gusts of wind and thunderstorms associated with convective cloud masses, intense and dangerous forming the peripheral band of the storm are however always possible across the country tonight. An improvement of the situation is expected for tomorrow morning

ISAAC is situated this morning at 6h00 at 3.1N 79.0W or between the Bahamas and Cuba, 344km east of Havana, 275km south-west of Nassau, Bahamas, 322km south-east of Miami. It moves at a speed of 30km/h towards Northwest. Maximum winds currently blowing 100km/h with gusting well above, and the area of ​​influence is of 335km around its center.

The red level is maintained in Haiti. The SPGRD together with SEMANAH still maintains a ban on all maritime activities on the southern coast, north of Haiti and the Gulf of Gonâve until further notice. The CNM together with the SPGRD and the DPC asks the population of risk areas to remain vigilant and strictly implement the safety instructions.
