Haiti - Economy : The President Martelly encourages the Haitians to consume local products

Friday, during a courtesy visit to the Primature, the President Michel Martelly, met twenty of representatives of popular neighborhoods of the metropolitan area [among other Fort-National, Bel-Air, Cité Militaire, Truitier, Carrefour Feuille and Delmas 2].

The Head of State was welcomed by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe and Mrs. Rosanne Auguste, the Delegate Minister of Human Rights and the fight against extreme poverty.

During this meeting focused, among other things, on the "Project of Strengthening of productive Capacities in shoemaking, sewing, tallow chandlery, bakery and ironworks in poor neighborhoods of Port-au-Prince", the Head of State, took the opportunity to encourage these young people, on the necessity to really revive the domestic production.

In order to encourage artisans to produce more, the President Martelly, has decided to fund two micro-projects, the first in the area of ​​the shoemaking and the other in cassaverie, to the tune of 150.000 gourdes each. He then placed an order for a thousand shoes to support the shoemakers of Bel-Air and encourage Haitians to consume all the local products.

The interveners Amingo Marcellus, Berthony St-Ange, Das Jean-Claude, Jude François and Maxon Evenson, have congratulated the President Martelly for his systematic will, to adopt significant measures to change the living conditions of the Haitian people.
