Haiti - Social : Blue phone for a better family planning

Program and Health Information (PSI Haiti) and the Promoters objective zero AIDS (POZ) recently launched the information and awareness campaign "Plis kontwòl". The purpose of this campaign is to encourage the adoption and promotion of modern methods of family planning by young people and help prevent unwanted pregnancies by adopting responsible behavior.

"Family planning is essential if you want to ensure the well-being and independence of families while supporting the health and community development," declared Emmanuella D. Augustine, Communications Director of PSI-Haiti who announced that to join the population it was decided to use the telecommunications, given that the majority of the population has a mobile phone.

"We know how difficult it is for Haitian women generally to have relevant information on reproductive health and family planning," said Yves Gérard Pierre-Louis, Director of programs PSI-Haiti. The lack of information, taboos, inadequate health services schedules, and the stigma of service providers, are some of the problems that make it difficult the access for young people to good information.

Now, if necessary, all those who want assistance in family planning throughout the country, can from their mobile phone, by calling for free the number 100 of the blue phone, receive assistance, advice, support, psychological and references in strict confidence and without be prejudged. 7 councilors health care professionals or of social sciences, rovide service 7/24.
