Haiti - Education: 700 teachers and school directors, in training

The Departmental Directorate of Education of Southeast began Thursday morning, throughout four school districts of the region, a training session lasting 8 days for 700 teachers and directors of public schools and nonpublic. This training session is currently underway in several centers of the department.

At the launch, Marc Elder Charles, the Departmental Director of Education of Southeast stated that this activity was part initially, of the implementation for the next back to school, and in a second time, it aims to equip teachers with the necessary tools so that they may be able to give children a better education.

Elder Charles explained that the first three days will be devoted to vocational training including the classroom management, while the following days, teachers will have to work on modules such as : Social Sciences, Experimental Sciences, French Communication, Creole and Mathematics.

In addition, the Departmental Director took the opportunity to announce a set of activities that his institution has started, within the framework of the preparation for the reopening of classes "Starting next week, a campaign of cleaning and painting will be launched through several municipalities in the department. This program will affect more than fifty primary schools and 6 high schools in the region," also emphasizing of rehabilitation works of several schools damaged during the passage of Isaac.

Recall that according to the decision of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training, the reopening of classes is set to 1 October 2012.
