The Ecuadorian Minister of Defence, at the head of a delegation of 25 people, arrived in Port-au-Prince ate Thursday morning at the Toussaint Louverture International airport, for an official visit.

During this visit, Ecuador will proceed with the symbolic handover to the Haitian Government, of machinery and equipment, valued at $15 million, as part of the third phase of the Mission of Support to the reconstruction of Haiti by Ecuador (MARHEC III).

In addition, an agreement should be signed between the Ministries of Defence of both countries to strengthen the training of military specialists, from the Ecuadorian experience.

Ecuadorian Minister was accompanied among others : of Brigadier General Marco Vera, Commanding General of the Army of Ecuador, of Brigadier General Cesar Merizalde, Commander of Air Operations of Joint Command of the Armed Forces and of Colonel Christopher Carrillo, Head of Corps of Engineers of the Army.

Miguel Carvajal, will be received by President Michel Martelly, and will salute the Ecuadorian soldiers of XVI contingent "Chiemencoy" of the Mission of the United Nations Stabilization (Minustah).

The ceremony symbolic of handover of machinery will take place this Friday at Camp Artibonite in the presence of President Martelly, and subsequently, the Minister Carvajal and his delegation will visit the works achieved by the Ecuadorian.
