Haiti - Health : First Edition of the Conference «Haiti-Health 2012»

The Canadian Red Cross and the Group for Reflection and Action for a New Haiti (GRAHN) announced the holding of the First Edition of the Conference "Haiti Health-2012" from 1 to 6 October in Haiti. The event will aim to discuss of major health challenges of the country, to strengthen the role of the Haitian state in this area and to facilitate cooperation and long-term coordination among stakeholders (government, donors, government organizations, NGOs, civil society and private sector) of Haiti and abroad.

Result of a partnership between the Canadian Red Cross and Haitian and the GRAHN, a leading organization of civil society, the conference benefits from a strong support of the Haitian government. Dr. Florence Duperval Guillaume, the Minister of Health and Population of Haiti (MSPP), will ensure the honorary presidency of this conference.

The event will include two parts : the conference itself, bringing together nearly 200 people in Port-au-Prince 4, 5 and 6 October, that will allow trade on a variety of key issues of health and days of practical training, on health topics that will be held on 1, 2 and 3 October in several, for many health care providers.

This conference, will be held every two years in order to constitute a forum sustainable, a space of commitment and of coordination among the various actors in the health, and a suitable place for the monitoring of actions aimed at improving the health of Haitians in the long term.
