Haiti - Justice : Second postponement of vote at CSPJ 04/10/2012 09:22:53
Tuesday, September 25 the members of the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ) have met together, following the decision of Friday, September 21 to resume the process of appointing of 3 representatives of the Judiciary in the Permanent Electoral Council. The designation vote originally scheduled at this meeting, had been finally postponed to Thursday, October 4. New deadline ! At a meeting of members of the CSPJ, following a unanimous vote, they have decided to postpone to Tuesday October 9, the vote of designation of their 3 representatives. According to Me Néhémy Joseph, a member of the CSPJ the investigation on the 12 candidates selected is not complete "[...] it is necessary to collect a set of data through an investigation of proximity in their respective workplaces, their areas of residence, their career, their morality..." information that will complement the record of each candidate, before the individual interviews. 6 candidates will be interviewed Friday, October 5 and the 6 others Monday, October 8 for a likely vote on October 9... However, this new vote of designation, in no way solves the fact that 3 representatives of the Judiciary already named [Salnave Exantus, Yves Benoit Jean-Marie and Patrick Métellus] who currently sit on Permanent Electoral Council, have not been recalled... Given the independence of the 3 powers many are questioning on the authority that could recall the permanent advisors in the absence of their voluntary resignations... See also : HL/ HaitiLibre
