The Consul General Lesly Condé, of the Consulate of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago, reminds the Haitian Community as a whole, that Wednesday, October 17, 2012 brings the 206th anniversary of the death of Emperor Jean-Jacques Dessalines. On this occasion, the Consular Mission suggests that this is a day of reflection, on the historical importance of our Nation.

To mark this important date, the Consular Mission of Chicago, will discuss this Sunday, October 14, from 7:00 to 8:00 pm of "Dessalines Le Grand : the visionary by excellence" on the air of "Radio Haïti Internationale de Chicago" (1590 AM and on www.1590haiti.com)

On Sunday 21 October, the Haitian Catholic Mission of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Consular Mission invite the faithful of all religions, to a mass that will be celebrated in memory of the "Founding Father of the Haitian fatherland".

After the religious ceremony which will take place at 5:30 pm at the Church of Our Lady of Peace, located at 7801 South Jeffrey, Chicago, a reception will be offered in the basement of the church.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Haiti in Chicago relies on the presence of a huge number of compatriots to enhance the brilliance of this event.
