Haiti - Security : Results of the operation «Boukle Pòtoprens»

Friday, November 9, during a press conference, Frantz Lerebours, spokesman of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) informed on the results of the operation "Boukle Pòtoprens" (closing Port-au-Prince) during the month of October.

During this period, 1,800 people were arrested for various reasons and 24 firearms seized. The Brigade for the Fight against Drug Trafficking, has proceeded during an operation at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, to the arrest of 22 people and seized 3.2 kilograms of cocaine. The Spokesman said that the number of murders dropped of 65% from September to November 2012. According to witnesses of the scene, individuals masked, heavily armed, forced the Commissioner to exit of his car and lie down and have executed him coldly, with several bullets before fleeing. The reasons of this tragedy are unknown at this time.
