In order to assist victims of the recent floods, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, decided last Thursday, to partially freeze the credits of certain items of budget, in order to define a new orientation of public spending under the state of emergency.

Following these budget reallocation, Marie Carmelle Jean Marie, Minister of Economy and Finance confirms that the reduction of 30 to 50% of certain budget items have allowed to release 5 billion Gourdes of Treasury, or the execution of works of road infrastructure and agricultural, clearing of the river and agricultural recovery.

In addition, the Prime Minister announced cost-saving measures in government spending. Measures that will save 30 million U.S. dollars, which will be used among other things for the dredging of canals and drainage systems and to dredge the bay of Port-au-Prince. The decree confirming these measures should be published, to the return of the European tour of President Martelly.
