Haiti - Social : Facilitation Centre for institutions working with disabled people

During a meeting with the communications team of the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Odnel Eléazard, Programme Officer, to the organization Christian Blind Mission (CBM), announced that the CBM, just established a facilitation center to assist institutions and organizations working with people with disabilities.

"The Centre's mission is to strengthen the capacity of organizations and institutions working with disabled people, to make them more effective and efficient in their work in terms of training and information, and give them necessary means to better respond to their vocation, which is to provide services to people with special needs"

The Facilitation Centre has, among others, a workroom with offices, a photocopier and computers available for organizations, a training room equipped allowing associations to conduct training for their members and a library of key publications, related to the issue of disability.

Mr. Eléazard explained that this Centre of inclusion, has emerged following of problems of consultation of important documents or internet access and to other operational difficulties to which are faced these institutions "This center is born thanks to CBM with the financial support of the German Government through the GIZ (Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit)"

In addition, Mr. Eléazard told that within CBM, a series of trainings are organized for institutions working with people with special needs, on the personal development, the leadership and advocacy, the management and resolution of conflicts, the project management, finance and drafting of projets. "We are engaged in a diversified program, to give our contribution in several advocacy projects and of capacity building of institutions operating in this sector."

Ms. Stéphanie Lux, who manages the new center, pointed out "For the use of Center, we ask that organizations are legally recognized. The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.
