Mr. Alix Célestin, the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), presented on Monday, December 10, during a ceremony attended by President Michel Martelly, a plate "Honor and Recognition" to the Commissionner Jean Monestime of Miami Dade Distric #2 [first Haitian-American to serve on the Board of Commissioners of Miami-Dade County], for his accompaniment to the efforts of development of the port sector, undertaken by the APN.

The ceremony was held on the sidelines of the meeting between the Head of State and the compatriots of the diaspora at the North Miami Beach Library, and was an opportunity for the Director General of the APN to address its sincere thanks to Mr. Jean Monestime, which allowed the Haitian port sector to acquire in late October, a fire truck and an ambulance [donations of the City of Miami-Dade]. These materials will be assigned to Port directly and will serve the area in case of disaster.

The Director General of the APN, which renews his commitment to work towards the modernization of the sector, took the opportunity to incorporate this approach in the context of the vision of President Martelly, which wants to provide the strategic institutions with all the necessary equipment essential to give a service of excellence to the Haitian people.
