Haiti - Social : UNASUR gives $1 million for the PNCS

Renewing with its support to the National Program of School Canteens (PNCS), Ambassador Rodolfo Mattarollo, Special Representative of the Technical Secretariat of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) in Haiti, announced a cash donation of a amount of U.S. $1 million, coming from the commitment of the UNASUR to Haiti. This aid will be channeled towards preferably primary schools located in the departments of Grande Anse and Nippes.

This announcement was made as part of a signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement for the sustainability of school feeding in Haiti between the Government of Haiti and the World Food Programme (WFP) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7406-haiti-social-towards-a-true-system-of-school-canteens.html

The Technical Secretariat of UNASUR in Haiti, intends to deliver the money to the recipients through WFP, as it had previously done in its first intervention. The implementing rules will be determined by the Government of Haiti, the Technical Secretariat of UNASUR and WFP, in accordance with the experience collected during the previous operation performed in the same region.
