Haiti - Reconstruction : Opening of the new bridge Millet, to Frères

On Friday, President Michel Martelly and U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Ms. Pamela White, proceeded to the opening of the new bridge Millet, to Frères. The bridge, that connects Tabarre, the Plaine du Cul-de-sac, and the Road of Frèresto the town of Petion-Ville, is now open to traffic.

Bridge Millet, whose work, carried out by the firm CEEPCO Contracting under the supervision of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communication (MTPTC), lasted approximately one year and cost 1.7 million U.S. dollars. Constructed of reinforced concrete, the bridge is 18 meters long and 8.4 meters wide. The slab is supported by four prestressed beams with a length of 18.45 meters each. Approach slabs of 6 meters, were placed on each side. The project has also made ​​possible the rehabilitation of a section of the road of Frères (32.5 meters on the side of Tabarre and 112 meters on the of Pétion-Ville from the bridge).

"I'm happy when I imagine that the merchants, private sector employees, the inhabitants of the area of ​​the Plaine du Cul-de-sac will use this bridge. It connects areas that are important for workers of all categories. This bridge symbolizes the durable link that exists between our two countries. I'm sure that new activities will start around this bridge," declared Ambassador White.

Ambassador Pamela White also noted that "The U.S. government is working with the Haitian government to support the most important projects in the field of reconstruction, sustainable development, and economic growth for long-term stability in Haiti."
