Haiti - Education : Safety and security of the maritime transport logistics chain

580 executives of the National Port Authority (APN), of Customs and other stakeholders operating in the port sector, follow since March 11, a seminar with certification, of training on issues of safety and security of the maritime transport logistics chain. This seminar which will end March 27, 2013 is organized under the auspices of the Organization of American States (OAS), with the support of Canada.

According to Engineer Alix Célestin, the Director General of the APN, "This seminar is part of an initiative to strengthen Haiti's capacity in the implementation of a common responsibility, assumed and shared between nations subjected to constant threats on the maritime traffic and port facilities [...]

This is to strengthen the capacity of the sector through the transfer of skills, techniques and expertise to executives of the institution and stakeholders concerned with the problem, so that they are able to assume at best the tasks terms of safety and port security. At another level, it is mainly a question of allowing the APN, to be better equipped on the norms, standards, procedures and variables in regard to the functionality of a system of port safety and security, able to respond to the great challenges of our time."

Recalling that the global village that is today the world, experiencing more and more complexities and that international terrorism is served by breathtaking technological advances, the Director General of the APN, registers its efforts, together with its partners within the overall vision of the Administration Martelly-Lamothe aimed at modernizing the maritime and port sector.
