Haiti - Elections : Prime Minister visited headquarters of CTCEP

On Wednesday, Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied by David Bazile, Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, Jean Renel Sanon, Minister of Justice and Public Safety and Jean-Baptiste Saint-Cyr, Executive Director of National Office of Identification (ONI), met at the headquarters of the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP), the advisers, to collect information on the electoral process and provide the support of his Government to the success of this process.

The Head of Government reiterated the unwavering support of his Government to CTCEP.

"[...] I came here to do an inventory so that we can work together for the Government for the Government that I lead gives all possible support to the Council for the organization of elections.

[...] This support must begin with the coordination of various ministries and agencies that will be involved in the elections, so that when the Council will need a thing, it finds a fast, effective response, so we do not waste time.

[...] You know that organizing elections is a priority for the country, so we are committed for this to be done, and that all support are given to the Council in its work [...]"

At the end of these discussions the two sides agreed to meet next week to discuss the following points :

The electoral law;

The cost of elections;

Strengthening the technical directions of CTCEP;

The strengthening of decentralized structures of CTCEP;

The physical redevelopment of premises of CTCEP;

Contentious structures of CTCEP;

Logistics.

The Prime Minister promised to meet the actors involved in the electoral process regularly, and reaffirmed the commitment of his Government to ensure credible, free and fair elections in the country.
