Thursday afternoon, in accordance with the constitutional deadline, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Economy and Finance filed to the Lower House, the draft finance law (State Budget) for the year 2013-2014.

The budget of 126 billion and 400 million gourdes is smaller of about 5 billion gourdes from the 2012-2013 budget [131 billion]. Pending ratification and the details of the budget, according to the deputy of Cerca-Cavajal 64% of the budget would be allocated to investment and 36% to the functioning of the state.

For many observers, the decrease in this new budget "more realistic", is due to a decrease of state resources caused in part by overly optimistic revenue objectives.
