Haiti - Training : New technologies and institutional capacity building

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, who recognizes the importance of Information Technology and Communication (ICT), has decided to make of them a ool of governance, in accordance with its general policy statement. In order to better adapt to technology, which is a necessary step towards improving the administrative transition, the Primature through its e-governance unit, organized a training seminar from 22 to 25 July 2013, in favor of the Executives of the Public Service on "Microsoft Office 365 for Government", a platform providing online computer services, designed to meet the needs of security, reliability and portability of a government. This seminar will enable learners to better equip themselves to provide adequate and effective service to users of the public service.

In this context, the Head of Government has made all the arrangements to operationalize the agreement signed with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), within the program "New Technologies and Institutional Capacity Building of the Government of the Republic of Haiti." The e-Governance Unit, is responsible for the implementation of the Integrated Platform of Haitian Government (PIGH), which should ensure the establishment of basic infrastructure of ICT of the Central State and administrative features required.

The basic components of this integrated platform are based on the following areas :

  • A standardized system of electronic messaging within the Public Administration ;

  • A dashboard of management and dissemination of information on all reconstruction projects ;

  • Of "Quick wins" such as : company registration online, electronic directory of institutions of public administration and other.

In this perspective the Prime Minister Lamothe, through its e-Governance Unit, provides the latest technology produced by the world's leading Microsoft to allow institutions to better fulfill their administrative duties.
