Haiti - Diplomacy : Haiti intends to continue purchasing Dominican products

Monday, Fritz N. Cinéas, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Haiti in the Dominican Republic, during an interview in the program "El Sol de la Mañana" on Zol 106.5 FM, declared "Haiti intends to continue to purchase products from the Dominican Republic, because the products are cheaper, but called for quality."

Ambassador Cinéas stressed that Haiti, as part of binational markets, recorded a loss of annual revenue of about $300 million, caused by non-payment of taxes and that "if we do not act, informal trade, will be greater than 40%."

Moreover, following his meeting the day before with Carlos Morales Troncoso, the Dominican Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador to Haiti, called for patience [the Dominican government and stakeholders concerned] to solve the problem of the export ban on Dominican poultry products in Haiti, noting that in this case, no one would interfere with the "very good" bilateral relations between the two countries.

A diplomatic call, that occurs the day following the intervention of Victor Castro, President of the Association of Industrial of Herrera and Santo Domingo province who believed that with the lack of commitment of Haiti it was necessary for the Dominican Government, to use global bodies that govern trade, including the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Agreement on Trade with the European Union (EPA), instances in which the Dominican Republic and Haiti are members...
