Haiti - Elections : Budget of 722 million gourdes for CTCEP & CEP (2013-2014)

Monday, Emmanuel Ménard, President of the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council (CTCEP), accompanied by Pierre Simon Georges, Treasurer of the electoral body, answering the questions of the Economy and Finance Commission of the Lower House, on the preparation of budget 2013-2014, explained that "722 million gourdes will be necessary for operation of CTCEP."

He stated that it was an operating budget, of investment and operations, which was not intended primarily to the CTCEP, whose function is transient, but above all for the Permanent Electoral Council (CEP), who will take over after the next election "we are not forced to buy some hardware at each election we could make investments, which is why we asked the deputies an operating budget, an investment budget and an operating budget."

Moreover Emmanuel Menard was careful not to provide clues, allowing to confirm or invalidate the holding of the next electoral contest in 2013...

Regarding the money available for the next elections, Emmanuel Menard recalled that CTCEP had a fund of 300 million gourdes, fueled by international donors and managed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The Deputy Antoine O. Bien-Aimé, President of the Commission deeply regretted that this is not the CTCEP, itself that manages these funds.
