Haiti - Tourism : The new hotel complex El Rancho NH under construction

Wednesday, the site of the new complex El Rancho NH (Twinning of El Rancho Hotel and Villa Créole) in the heart of Petion-ville, was presented by the entrepreneur Réginald Boulos [head of the Société immobilière et financière (SIF)] to the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism.

Within 5 years and some 79 million investment, the hotels El Rancho and Villa Créole will be integrated in a village, a kind of integrated urban development in which will be built n apartment complex (co-owned) in a fully enclosed and secure area. There will also be a Convention Centre of international level with a capacity of 1,500 people (expected opening in October) and activity centers, spaces for children, sports facilities and pedestrian and cyclists way.

Réginald Boulos wished to proudly state that the realization of this project was the exclusive result of the Haitian private sector and that no foreign investors are involved.

In his speech the Prime Minister declared "[...] First I want to thank the efforts of this group of Haitian investors who are put together to give the country a hotel [El Rancho] of first class we have just visited [...] this is a hotel that contributes to the advancement of the country, because when the government promotes investment well that's what we're talking about. For an investor to come, it is necessary to have a hotel to host it [...] that will create jobs, economic activity and all that contribute to push forward Haiti.

[...] The Government alone can not do it, the private sector today, showed that it has answered the call of the Government [...] it is the passion, energy, motivation and love of their country, that made they took the risk of investing in this project. This is the kind of initiative that we encourage, which will bring the country forward.

[...] I would like on behalf of the Government, congrulates Réginald Boulos, Sheriff Abdallah, Marc Antoine Acra [...] which are put together and more than 25,000 other large and small investors, who have contributed to this reality today, while the government is working on security, hospitals, health centers, and well-being of the population [...]

The Government understands its responsibilities and the private sector also shows that it answers the call. We need to encourage the private sector to continue to invest. It is the private sector that creates jobs, the government creates the conditions so that jobs are created and together we contribute to the advancement of the country..."
