Haiti - Politic : The interpellation of Laurent Lamothe, canceled

The interpellation of Laurent Lamothe, as Minister of Planning and External Cooperation and not as Prime Minister, initiated by seven members of the opposition, scheduled for this Wednesday, September 4, https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-9348-haiti-politic-interpellation-of-laurent-lamothe-in-the-lower-house.html will not happen, informed Jean Tholbert Alexis, President of the Lower Housewho explained the cancellation by the non-compliance with Article 255 of the internal regulations of the Lower House. Stating that the decision of Deputies interpellators "Must, first, be subject of debate at the Conference of Presidents [...] Article 225 of the Rules of Procedure of the Lower House said clearly that it is the the Conference of Presidents, who must fix a date for a special session devoted to the discussion of one or several motions of interpellation of a minister or government," adding that the analysis of the feasibility of this motion of interpellation did therefore not been made.

For his part, the Deputy Sinal Bertrand one of the initiators of thisinterpellation, not disarm and is ready to make a new interpellation before September 9 [beginning of the parliamentary recess]. In case of impossibility, he threatens to welcome the Prime Minister at the beginning of the new parliamentary session [second Monday of January] with a concert of horns and "vuvuzela", as was the case at the opening of the legislative year...

For his part, the President of the Lower Chamber recalled that today's priority remained the report on the draft electoral law.

The issue of the interpelation of the Minister of Planning could possibly be discussed on Wednesday at a special conference of the President, devoted to the analysis of the report of the Special Commission on the Electoral Bill.
