Thursday, President Michel Joseph Martelly, proceeded at the Vocational School JB Damier, at the launch of Project of Improvement of Mechanics in Sous-Rail (Port-au-Prince). The ceremony was attended, among others bt : Ms. Marina Gourgue, Secretary of State for Vocational Training and Ms. Magareth Rose Beaulière, Director of the National Institute of Vocational Training (INFP).

The objective of this pilot project, dear to the Head of State, is to strengthen the capacity of these professionals in the informal sector, for a better production in automotive mechanics, particularly electricity, air conditioning and sheet metal. President Martelly is determined, together with the INFP and the Office of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training, to help these mechanics who have not learned the trade in school, to receive better training.

This pilot project of training that takes into account 260 mechanics will be conducted under the patronage of the Presidency and reflects the will of President Martelly to promote manual trades and improve the quality of service offered to customers, convinced that education and training are essential tools in the development of Haiti.

The training of mechanics operating in Sous-Rail will be delivered in three centers in the metropolitan area: JB Damier (Port-au-Prince) for electricity, the Pilot Centre (Drouillard) for sheet metal and APEX (Delmas) for air conditioning.

In addition, the Head of State promised awell refurbished space to facilitate the work of mechanics in Sous-Rail.

This project will reach other professionals in various parts of the country, as in the neighborhood of Bel-Air where the start is set for November.
