Haiti - Security : The Deputy Thimoléon appealed for calm and denies rumors... 17/09/2013 13:31:49
This Tuesday, September 17, the deputy of Petit-Goâve, Jacques Stevenson Thimoléon during an exclusive interview with Radio Preference FM, appealed for calm and asked formally to armed bandits of Curtis, Barette, Maro, Marose and of Mango-Marion terrorizing the population and extort money from drivers on the National #2 to lay down their arms and hand them to the authorities, so that the town of Petit-Goâve can regain peace and tranquility. In addition, the Deputy Thimoléon formally denied the rumors, suggesting that him and his upporters have a relationship with these rebels "My supporters are not violent, however, they were victims of police brutality, they were beaten by law enforcement officers. Many of them are currently receiving care [...] I never distributed weapons and I do not have either. I challenge anyone to prove that I have given ammunition to those who practice violence on National road #2 [...] I am absolutely opposed to violence, I would resign rather than encourage people to take up arms and to commit acts contrary to the law. I condemn violence wherever it comes from and I wonder if there is not hidden hands behind these armed bandits..." This morning, Petit-Goâve was apparently calm.
