Haiti - Elections : The OAS ready to send an observation mission

Sunday, the Organization of American States (OAS) announced that it was preparing to send a mission to oversee the preparation and holding of elections in Haiti.

"We are ready to deploy a mission [...] to assist the authorities for the registration of voters, updating of the voters' list until the vote tabulation" confirmed Frédéric Bolduc Ambassador of OAS in Haiti, adding that "The aim is to come in observation mission to provide technical assistance and make recommendations, but first it is necessary to have a date for the holding of these elections. OAS abstains to comment on a specific date," encouraging politicians to "work together to maintain the stability of Haiti and put the cap on economic development and progress."

This election was originally scheduled for December but who could be postponed, aims to renew 10 of the 30 Senate seats, and it would also renew about 130 municipal councils across the country.
