Friday, President Michel Martelly, met at the National Palace, the Representatives of 54 trade associations. This meeting, which was attended by Ms. Yanick Mézile, Minister for Women's Affairs and Women's Rights, Wilson Laleau, Economy and Finance, Fresnel Dorcin, Secretary of State for Crop Production, Charles Castel, Governor of the Central Bank, of Directors General of Customs and ONA ; was the opportunity for the Head of State and Representatives of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to provide an update on the various problems faced by the sector and identify possible solutions.

The Head of State stressed to the attention of Representatives, the need to be better organized in order to achieve a better market management and establish a partnership with the state. He also indicated that his administration was aware of the various problems faced by informal traders.

On the other hand, the President Martelly stressed that it was the responsibility of the State to put in place programs to create opportunities for wealth creation and the development of this sector.

In their speeches, the representatives of traders asked the Head of State to accompany them by reducing customs duties and allowing them to have access to credit at preferential rates.
