Haiti - Economy : The Minister Laleau urges donors to support the Government's efforts

Wilson Laleau, Minister of Economy and Finance, who is attending the Annual Meeting of Governors of the World Bank (WB) and of International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington, DC [from 10 to 14 October 2013], with Charles Castel, Governor of the Central Bank, held an important meeting to which participated among other personalities : Thomas Adams, U.S. State Department's Special Coordinator for Haiti and Hans Tuluy, Vice-President of the World Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean.

This meeting allowed to the Minister Laleau to take stock on the initiatives taken by the administration Martelly-Lamothe to boost the country's economic development, as well as the implementation of social projects for the benefit of the population. "The country is moving in the right direction, and I urge the donor community to support the efforts of the Haitian government to attract foreign investment in the country," declared Minister Laleau who also stressed that the Administration Martelly-Lamothe made every effort to create a conducive business environment, while strengthening the management of public finance.

For his part Mr. Hans Tuluy said to have noted considerable progress in Haiti with the government in place and encouraged the Haitian authorities to address the particular problems of electricity, a key factor for investment.
