Haiti - Security : Curtis bandits threaten to Hard Hit

Saturday, October 12, 2013, around 2:00 pm the bandits of Curtis, tried unsuccessfully to block theNational Road #2, at Coq-Chante and ransom people, operation that failed due to the intervention of agents of the Departmental Unit of Maintenance of Order (UDMO).

Following the failed attack, gunmen of Curtis who are called "the rebels" have launched a serious threat around 5:00 pm on the air of a local radio station.

"Today, we decided to get out of our hole and occupy the National Road [...] we lost one of our own in the exchanges with the police. We will never back down. We are opposed to the Government Martelly and Deputy Thimoléon [...] Us, the rebels, we are obliged to continue to fight. The game becomes brutal. We have already registered victims, we can not let them down. We are more than ever determined to continue the war and to change methods. Henceforth, we will burn the vehicles and kill police officers. We are able to do [...]

[...] We had proposed an agreement but they refused and they pursue us, while UDMO agents are comfortable and walk our streets. They even have love affairs with young girls in the city [...] This is unacceptable, us the rebels, we demand the departure of agents UDMO. In addition, we would like to deny the Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH) who had indicated during his visit in Petit-Goâve, that there was no longer bandits in Petit-Goâve. This is wrong, we were there and we are still here.

We will hit hard in the coming days. Schools will be forced to close their doors. We will kill police officers by bullets and magic powders. Agents UDMO are thieves and criminals [...] that they leave the city."

For his part Charles François, Chief Inspector of the Commissariat of Petit-Goâve, reiterated the commitment of the PHN to track down the bandits all over the town.
