Haiti - Reconstruction : Contribution of 400,000 euros from AFD for Carrefour

The specialized committee of the Board for the support to the initiatives of NGOs, of the e French Development Agency (AFD), approved this week, 21 subsidies totaling 10.3 million euros, whose one for Haiti.

Amounting to 400,000 euros over three years, this subsidy for Haiti, will be allocated to CARE France for the urban redevelopment of the town of Carrefour. Note that this subsidy is a contribution that is part of a project of €7.2 million for the relocation of populations through the development and reconstruction of 4 neighborhoods of Carrefour.

This project of €7.2 million, conducted jointly with the Town Hall of Carrefour, Cordaid and the Emergency Architects Foundation include : the strengthening of local actors for they get involved in a practical way in the improvements to the neighborhood and the management of risks related to major natural hazards in order to increase the resilience of communities, the establishment of safe housing, of public spaces and a improved access to water and sanitation and strengthening the economic sector through the development of local initiatives.
