Haiti - Sports : 2013 ING New York City Marathon D-1

Increasingly, the world's attention is focused on Haiti and talents of our country are being discovered, this time, the opportunity is given to Haiti to compete for the first time, with nearly 45,000 runners from around the world, to the 2013 ING New York City Marathon, this Sunday, November 3.

5 young athletes, men and women, selected during the marathon organized by the Mayor of Petion-ville and the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, June 9, will participate in this world-renowned competition, around five districts of New York, over a distance of 42.195 km.

These are 3 men : Astrel Clovis, 43 (Cayes), Pétrus Césarion, 31 (Arcahaie), Jean Macksony, 27 (Cayes), and 2 women : Bertine Lainé, 31 (Cayes) and Carline Lamour, 21 (Petit-Goâve) who were welcomed Tuesday by the Consul General of the Republic of Haiti in New York, Charles A. Forbin, who offered them a luncheon in their honor at the Headquarters of the Consulate.

"Our athletes were accompanied by Gérard Cassamajor, their coaches and members of the NGO J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) founded by American actor Sean Penn, to whom we express our gratitude. We will not forget to greet our Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action for her dedication vis-à-vis our sport," declared the Consul Forbin.

"We are pleased to acknowledge the efforts of the organization of Sean Penn, who sponsored our young runners and allowed them to take part in this great event.
