Haiti - Reconstruction : Tour of President Martelly in Artibonite

President Michel Martelly, accompanied, among others by, Philippe Cinéas, the Secretary of State for Public Works and several of his advisers, undertaken on 4 and 5 November, a tour of the department of Artibonite, including in Gonaives, Ennery and Desdunes.

Monday during the celebration of Saint-Charles, he President Martelly ook the opportunity to award 10 scholarships in computer science to young Gonaïviens.

In addition, the President of the Republic has officially announced that the city of Independence, will host the carnival festivities in 2014, adding that the carnival parade will be held from Sunday 2 to Tuesday, March 4, 2014 triggering an explosion of joy in the crowd.

On Tuesday, the Head of Government went to Ennery where, accompanied by Deputy Cholzer Chancy, he assessed the progress of development work of the Place d'Armes of the city. He also visited the police station to inquire about the lives of police officers.

Back in Gonaives, the President visited the major rehabilitation works of hydraulic system to supply water to the southern part of the city and proceeded to the start of network. The rehabilitation of this network, powered by a tank of 960 cubic meters, will enable the National Directorate of Water Supply and Sanitation (DINEPA) to serve more than 30,000 beneficiaries of zones : Pont Gaudin, Centre Ville, Raboteau, Jubile, Route Nationale, La Martninière, Bigot, Biernnac, Christophe, Bois d’Orme, Dattes, Sajous, and Gattereau.

This work consisted, among other things to the excavation and installation of 100m pipe cast 8" into the river, the excavation and installation of 140 m of pipes cast 8", he excavation and installation of 340 m of pipes, the installation of accessories of connections, mass disinfection, repair and commissioning of water and the rehabilitation of a dozen kiosks of water distribution.

The President Martelly has also proceded under the applause of hundreds of traders at the inauguration of the public market of Gonaives, which was completely destroyed by fire on the night of May 20 to 21, 2011.

The Head of State has completed its tour in the town of Desdunes where he circulated on the newly built road in compliance with all standards. About 5 km long it connects the city of Desdunes to the National No. 2. Finally, the President of the Republic visited the new Administrative Complex of Desdunes which will soon house most of the public offices of that town in the context of decentralization.
