During the XIX General Assembly of the International Federation and Red Crescent held in Sydney (Australia) recently, the Delegation of the Haitian Red Cross led by its President Dr. Guiteau Jean-Pierre presented to the Governor Corazón Alma de León of the Red Cross Philippines, a check of U.S. $20,000 as a sign of solidarity of the Haitian people following the passage of Haiyan that hit that country on November 8.

The Haitian people want to meke know to the Philippines people that it is not alone and it can rely on the solidarity of Haiti, of its people and the Haitian Red Cross.

On this occasion Dr. Guiteau Jean-Pierre declared "[...] I would like to draw the attention of the Delegation of the Philippines Red Cross here present and directed by Madam Governor Corazon Alma de León, Secretary of the Governing Council, that the Haitian people as a whole sympathizes with the pain of that sister nation [...] The Haitian people following with great attention the evolution of the situation [...] It is thus that under this momentum and this sincere empathy, the Erick Jean-Baptiste Foundation asked us to convey, on behalf of the Haitian people to the Delegation of the Philippines Red Cross, this modest contribution of $20,000. This symbolic gesture is a small link in this chain of solidarity that now weaves around the people of the Philippines, but by this gesture, the Haitian people want to make know to the Philippines people that it is not alone and it can rely on the solidarity of Haiti, of its people and the Haitian Red Cross [...]"
