Monday, President Michel Martelly accompanied by his wife Sophia Martelly, inaugurated in Delmas 83 the new Office for the Fight against Gender Violence. This new structure of the Ministry for the Status and Rights of Women (MCFDF) aims to combat any act causing or likely to cause women and girls physical or psychological suffering whether in public or private life.

In the presence of Marie Yanick Mézile , Minister for the Status and Rights of Women, of Me Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, of Josette Darguste, acting Minister of Culture, of the Ambassador United States in Haiti , Pamela White, and representatives of national and international partner organizations and associations, the Head of State reiterated the need that this struggle is conducted by all sectors of society "The mobilization of each and every one is essential for combating this scourge. But above all, the state must take responsibility and fight against impunity in the country in terms of gender violence. Thanks to the determination of the supervisory Ministry, to the advocacy of women's organizations, the commitment of the Ministry of Justice and the continued support of international partners, the National Police of Haiti (PNH) is now able to act to curb this scourge"
