Ms. Dithny Joan Raton, the Departmental Director of Tourism South East visited the workshop in creative design, led by artist Lydia Palais and participated in the opening of a home for street children in Jacmel.

This 4-week training , funded by UNESCO with funds from the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), follows the contacts made by the architect Carola Paredes, Assistant Technical Heritage and Culture for AECID will benefit 15 graduates of the School Workshop of Jacmel (EAJ) and 15 artisans practicing.

Several prototypes of objects made by this workshop in the creative design, will be presented at the craft store located in the tourist port of Jacmel, during the Jacmel Carnival 2014 to be held on Sunday, February 23.

This training program was established following discussions between Carola Paredes and Lydia Palais and then refined, according to the perspectives expressed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Culture.
