Haiti - Agriculture : The Government commits to accompany local producers of Nippes

Saturday, the 8th edition of "Gouvènman an lakay ou", was held in the town of Anse-à-Veau in the department of Nippes, was presided by the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, in the presence of President Michel Martelly.

Given the agricultural vocation of the region, this edition of "Gouvènman an lakay ou" especially put emphasis on the agricultural sector, which will be the main beneficiary with the launch of agricultural centers that will make available various equipment and agricultural at the disposal of farmers. Recall that agriculture represents the main economic activity of Anse-à-Veau (maize, millet, banana, cassava, cocoyam and rice).

Several agro-industrial organizations, took advantage of the high-level governmental presence to deliver to the Head of State and his Premier their list of grievances.

The Government is committed to make the promotion of local production, small businesses and small and medium nippoises Enterprises (SMEs) and to accompany local producers of Department of Nippes.

Thomas Jacques, Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development announced the distribution of 450 bags of fertilizer to agricultural associations from of communes of Nippes. 5 other tractors will be put to the disposal of growers associations and an association of producers, will receive a rice mill.

Moreover, the government team has reiterated its determination to work towards strengthening and development of fisheries associations of Nippes. For this purpose it was announced that 15 fishing boat engines, two Fish Aggregating Device (CPD), 600 fishing kits and 400 miscellaneous equipment will soon be distributed.
