Haiti - Tourism : At the hotel level, Haiti remains a difficult target

Jaime Buxó, the CEO worldwide, of the Spanish chain Occidental Hotels & Resorts, declared that Haiti remained a difficult target to maintain a good level of occupation, because the the supply of hotel rooms increased at a higher rate, that the arrival of tourists to this destination "We have a 128-room hotel in Haiti, the Royal Oasis, in operation since December 2012. The opening was a challenge for the chain, because the arrival of tourists has failed to take off at the same rate that the supply of rooms."

With the opening of this facility, Occidental became the first Spanish chain to betting on the luxury segment in Haiti. However, the low tourism demand has prevented the Royal Oasis to operate at full capacity.

Recall that this luxury hotel, 5 hibiscus, located in the residential suburb of Petionville (115 Avenue Pan-American, Petion-ville) in addition to its 128 rooms, has five restaurants, five bars, a panoramic swimming pool on the roof, a fitness center and spa, a shopping center with shops and salons for events.

Note that during the first 9 months of 2014 (January-September 2014) the tourist arrivals (diaspora included, but cruise passengers excluded) increased in Haiti by 21.12% compared to the same period of last year for a total of 362.980 tourists.
