Haiti - Elections : The PNH reinforces its security measures

Following the recent incidents related to the electoral campaign, which occurred especially Gonaïves and Cap-Haitien, and after the warning of Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-18656-haiti-elections-cep-warns-the-disruptors.html , Michel-Ange Gédéon Director General of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) in a note directed to members of the police institution "to demonstrate professionalism and objectivity in their actions".

He states that "[...] for all displacements of presidential candidates or to the Senate, the Department Directors must show pro-active and vigilant by redoubling security devices.

They absolutely must take all measures necessary to cover all movements of candidates with the sacred mission of protecting the lives of the latter, as well as that of their relatives through a reasonably effective particularly lively and alert.

In all cases, specialized units will be in support of administrative officers for a better crowd management to ensure better security for the election.

The Directorate General of the PNH, reminded the police officers, of all ranks, that the police is an apolitical, neutral and non-partisan institution."
