Jean Marie Altéma, General Director of the National Council of Telecommunications (CONATEL) and Dischler Marcelin, General Director of the National Television of Haiti (TNH) signed an agreement for the commissioning by TNH, of an experimental digital TV channel in the metropolitan area, at the latest on 15 November.

Discheler Marcelin stressed that this pilot experience will allow the public to make the difference between analog TV and digital recalling the international requirement of the transition to digital television for all and the need to meet the timetable. (Before the end of 2017).

However, if the digital television will allow a better picture quality and sound, as well as a greater choice of channels and programs using the width of the spectrum that it would take for a single analog channel as explained Jean Marie Altéma he points out that huge changes will have to occur for Haiti to be at the international standards by the end of this decade, particularly in terms of content and equipment.
