Haiti - France : 6 mobile stations of water treatment, in the Great South

In addition to the two water purification stations, operated by agents of the French civil security in Jérémie, the French humanitarian aid includes six other mobile stations of water treatment, made available by the Veolia Foundation.

Recall that a few days after the devastating Hurricane Matthew, the Veolia Foundation sent 6 mobile water treatment plants Aquaforce 500 and storage equipment, essential for the treatment of drinking water and the fight against the spread of cholera.

A permanent of the Foundation and a volunteer Veoliaforce are present on the ground to provide technical support to teams of ACTED (Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development), currently mobilized throughout the South and Grand'Anse.

ACTED teams have routed the drinking water supplies to the most affected areas in collaboration with local authorities, including the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA), town halls and Haitian civil protection :

Three stations Aquaforce 500 were deployed in the South department in Chardonnières and Port-à-Piment (Les Coteaux), on the south coast,

Two stations were installed at Dame-Marie;

A third is being installed in Dame Marie.

"These six water treatment plants of Veolia will provide between 40 and 50 m3 of drinking water per day and will enable some 12,000 people daily drinking safe water and prevent the spread of cholera," explained Frédéric de Saint-Sernin, Director General Manager of ACTED.

ACTED teams have been trained in the use of units Aquaforce 500 by teams from the Veolia Foundation. In parallel, teams of cholera prevention of ACTED working hard to contain the cholera cases in the region and prevent its spread.
