Haiti - FLASH : Maryse Narcisse convened at the CEP for the statements of Aristide

Following the statements qualified as incitement to violence held by former President Jean Bertrand Aristide, as part of the campaign of Maryse Narcisse, presidential candidate under the banner of the Parti Famni Lavalas, especially at the Village of the Renaissance, in Cité Soleil last Sunday https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-19186-haiti-news-zapping-politics.html , the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) invited candidate Lavalas to come and explain.

Let us recall, in short, that Aristide had called on his supporters to resort to dechoucage if the elections did not take place on November 20, calling the dechouching a means of self-defense against those who oppose the victory of Famni Lavalas...

"In accordance with the provisions of Chapter VIII of the Electoral Decree, which deals with the electoral campaign, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) invites you to come to Petion-ville 72 Rue Stephen Archer on 11 November at 3h00 p.m., in order to shed light on certain statements made during your electoral campaign in recent days, notably at the Village of the Renaissance, we can reads in a correspondence addressed to the candidate, dated Wednesday and bearing the signature of Léopold Berlanger Jr., the President of the CEP.

It should be recalled that Article 116 of Chapter VIII stipulates "Throughout the electoral process, candidates and their supporters must observe a correct attitude.

They must refrain from any incitement to violence and any act jeopardizing the life and property of the population subject to penalties under the Penal Code. The Government Commissioner or Judge of Peace, assisted by officers of the PNH, regularly seized by the CEP, prosecutes."

In its article 118 (b) states that the CEP, after an investigation, may "Seizing the judicial authorities against any individual or group of individuals make threats, affects the life, property of the candidates or the population during the electoral period."

And finally, in Article 119, it is specified "in case of flagrence and recidivism, the Provisional Electoral Council take all measures, in accordance with this Decree, for the purpose of: (a) To express in a timely manner on all reported cases of violence; b) Remove from the list of approved candidates all those convicted, subject to any legal action to be brought by the injured party ; c) Suspend political parties or political groups convicted of any election for up to five (5) years."

Several executives and militants of Fanmi Lavalas believe that this decision of the CEP to convene Maryse Narcisse proves that some members of the CEP are always hostile to Fanmi Lavalas. For his part the deputy Printemps Belizaire, describes as "a plot the interpretations that try to pass the recent statements of former President Jean Bertrand Aristide for an incitement to violence."
