Haiti - Elections : Ambassador Mulrean frankly worried

Thursday evening at the US ambassador's residence, at the end of year cocktail of the American Chamber of Commerce of Haiti (Amcham), the American Ambassador in Haiti Peter H. Mulrean in his speech has returned on the Haitian elections.

While he acknowledged that he had seen a clear improvement in the electoral process compared to 2015, he show very concerned about the post-election violence.

"Regarding the street, I'm frankly worried, because it is not through the street that the people must pronounce but in the ballots. We had justly the vote of November 20, of credible elections where the people were able to express themselves.

Now, let the process unfold and accept the results of this process.

What we see on the street is disturbing, especially violence, intimidation and threats against journalists. This is unacceptable, the breakers it's unacceptable ! This is not how the people express themselves. We hope that everyone will let the process unfold and that everyone will accept the results."
