Haiti - FLASH : Dominicans recruited into the ranks of Haitian gangs

A Dominican citizen Molaï Ortiz Mieses (32 years old) arrested by the National Police of Haiti (PNH), on Friday May 13, 2022, at 5th Avenue Bolosse declared during his interrogation "[...] They are legion the Dominicans who are part of the armed gangs currently operating in Haiti."

Let's recall that Ortiz Mieses is in custody at the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) where he continues to answer questions from investigators.

Powerful gang member, the revelations and confessions of Ortiz Mieses are shattering. Settled in Haiti for nearly 10 years, after fleeing Dominican justice in 2013, this Dominican criminal joined the gang of Carlos Petit-Homme, alias "Ti Makak", based in Laboule where he was the 3rd leader.

Ortiz Mieses confessed to carrying out numerous kidnappings, robberies and murders.

He confessed to having participated in the assassination of Divisional Inspector Dan Jerry Toussaint, on January 1st, 2022, in Laboule 12, Fessard area. He revealed that there were at least 8 members of the "Ti Makak" gang, heavily armed with assault rifles when they attacked the support unit of the Thomassin Sub-police station, where Jerry Toussaint was killed with a bullet in the head... "José Lito, of Dominican nationality, Venel alias 'Ti Blan', Tossou, Francilié, Dieu-Pifort, Hubert," are some of the men who participated in this crime, specified Ortiz Mieses .

A few months later, Ortiz Mieses became the right arm of two gang leaders : "Ti Lapli" operating in Grand-Ravine and Ery Joselus alias "Ti Georges".

Molaï Ortiz revealed that every gang group in Haiti has Dominican nationals in its ranks. Citing as an example the "5 seconds" gang led by "Izo" adding that other gangs have direct connections with Dominicans in the neighboring Republic.

Let's recall that the National Police of Haiti, in recent months, has arrested several individuals for illicit trafficking of firearms, through various border areas between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, including Belladère and Ouanaminthe among others.
