Haiti - FLASH : Cité soleil, ceasefire, opening of a humanitarian corridor

The violent clashes in Cité Soleil since July 8, 2022 between the coalition of armed gangs G-9 led by Jimmy Cherizier alias "Barbecue" which is trying to dislodge the rival coalition G-Pèp led by Nan Brooklyn gang leader Gabriel Jean Pierre alias "Ti Gabriel", in order to take control of the entire territory. According to the statements of Joël Joanéus, the deputy executive agent of Cité Soleil, on a radio station of the capital, a respite has been observed since July 16 afternoon between the rival gangs. He reported on ongoing discussions to achieve lasting peace in the largest slum of Port-au-Prince.

In addition, he announced that a "ceasefire" was observed to allow the opening of a humanitarian corridor in order to come to the aid of the population, to allow families and children who so wish to leave in safety combat zones and humanitarian organizations to deliver the aid that thousands of people held hostage in this conflict urgently need.
