Haiti - Security : 2 bandits fell, a Kalashnikov seized

In an exchange of fire with the police, 2 individuals, including one named "Jonas", were fatally injured yesterday Friday, October 28, at Lilavois 47, not far from the Seslès crossroads, as part of a police operation in the stronghold of a gang specializing in kidnappings, armed robberies and rapes.

The police recovered a Kalashnikov which was in the hands of the men who had with them several other armed individuals who managed to flee when the police carried out this intervention.

According to information provided by law enforcement, this gang was involved in the kidnapping of 3 children in Lilavois 35 during the month of October. The thugs demanded 150,000 gourdes for one of the hostages who was only 9 years old and spent 6 days in their hands.

Jonas, who is an influential member of the gang, also participated in the rape of women and shopkeepers frequenting the Lilavois 47 area early in the morning.

The police are looking for the rest of this gang of criminals and are determined to arrest the bandits, who are terrorizing the population, in order to restore a climate of security in the country.
