Trade unionist Méhu CHANGEUX President of the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti (APCH) / including affiliated unions including the National Federation of Transport and Haitian Workers (FENATRATH) and the Union of Vehicle Drivers of the lower Artibonite presented a heavy assessment of the transport sector in 2022.

Report of the Transport Sector from January to December 2022 where drivers, workers and passengers were victims of gangs including:

- Ransoming at Martissant, Fontamara, Canaan, Jerusalem, Croix-des-Bouquets etc...;

- Kidnappings and sequestrations of drivers and workers;

- Murders of drivers and passengers;

- Attacks on public transport vehicles;

- Vehicle hijackings;

- Criminal fires and thefts of transport vehicles;

- Armed attacks against trade union premises in Belladère.

The figures below are lower than the reality given the cases of abduction not declared to the heads of the transport unions.

- 15 drivers killed;

- 9 injured drivers;

- 132 people kidnapped and released for ransom (drivers and passengers);

- 64 vehicles hijacked and handed over for ransom;

- 23 transport vehicles stolen by gangs in downtown Port-au-Prince;

- 74 transport vehicles set on fire by bandits;

- 17 transport vehicles burned in petrol stations because of the shortage;

- Kidnapping of two senior trade unionists: Paul Loulou Chery and Ginette Appolon

- Assassination of two trade unionists: Christmane Disposé and Sainavalis Pascal
