Haiti - FLASH : Shooting in Canaan and Bon Repos at least 16 victims, significant damage

Heavily armed bandits from Canaan 1 near the Saint-Marc crossroads opened fire on passers-by and vehicles and engaged in acts of violence and extreme vandalism, in retaliation for the police operation still in progress, aimed at dislodging the gangs of Canaan https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-38471-icihaiti-canaan-operation-to-dismantle-gangs-several-bandits-killed.html where their brothers in arms fell under the bullets of the police

These bandits extended their assaults to the Bon Repos area, where other gunshot victims were recorded.

It is estimated that in this savage attack, at least ten people were killed, including the driver of a Rotation Tours bus from the Dominican Republic, and that at least ten others were injured, including bus passengers...

For his part, the Spokesperson of the Haitian Land Transport Sector (STTH) / and of the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti (APCH) drew up a provisional assessment of this surge of violence:

- 6 people killed (partial report)

- 4 Gas stations attacked by bandits

- 1 Mini market at Hinche station, attacked and partially burned

- 25 Motorbikes burnt down

- 4 Burned buses

- 1 burnt minibus

- 4 burnt vans

- 1 private car burnt down

- 1 burnt trailer truck

The bursts of automatic weapons caused panic among residents and small traders, many of whom had to flee for their lives and abandoned all their goods.

Residents were still on the alert Tuesday after experiencing a night of terror...

No intervention of units of the National Police of Haiti (PNH) was reported at the heart of the action...
