Haiti - Insecurity : The PM of Saint-Kitts-et-Nevis condemns the kidnapping of his honorary consul in Haiti

On Tuesday, April 19, 2023, the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Terrence Drew, strongly condemned the kidnapping in Haiti over the past weekend of the Honorary Consul of Saint Kitts and Navis, the businessman Haitian Harold Marzouka Jr. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-39327-haiti-news-zapping.html and specified that his Government continued to monitor the situation in Haiti.

"We are still gathering information and so far, as far as we are concerned, there has been no loss of life and we continue to work. But at this time, we are continuing to get information," Drew explained.

"The Government of St Kitts and Nevis is deeply concerned about the safety of Mr Marzouka and hope that he will be returned to his home and loved ones soon.

[...] The Government’s wish that the Marzouka family will find solace in the fact that the Government and people of St Kitts and Nevis stand in solidarity with them at this undoubtedly traumatic time [...]" underlines a press release from the Prime Minister .

Note that the Honorary Consul and his father who accompanied him were kidnapped by heavily armed men. In addition, the official vehicle of the Consulate was also stolen.
