Haiti - Public transport : The Town Hall of Jacmel takes severe measures against insecurity

In order to fight against insecurity in the town, to watch over the city, the town hall of Jacmel has decided :

- For all buses loading passengers or waiting to be loaded outside stations, in the city after 7 a.m., the town hall requests the police to arrest drivers, employees and seize their vehicle;

- Employees and the driver will pay a fine of 5,000 gourdes each or spend 24 hours in police custody. The owner of the bus will have to pay the same day 25,000 gourdes to recover the bus seized, if the owner of the bus lets the day pass, he will pay 5,000 gourdes for each additional day;

- All drivers who do not respect the indicated time and place and who try to load passengers elsewhere in the city, will be considered as those who conspire to make Jacmel a place of insecurity. So the security forces must take all measures to neutralize them.

In this situation, the Town Hall reminds that according to the law the PNH, justice and the police have the obligation to take all additional measures to encourage them to stay in the area defined by the Town Hall because it is for the sake of security.

Note : the amount of the fines will be used to clean up the city or plug the holes in the streets...
