Haiti - Crisis : African and Caribbean countries ready to help Haiti, but Haitians remain divided

On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, the Dominican Minister of External Affairs, Roberto Álvarez, declared that several countries on the African continent were ready to help Haiti deal with the political, humanitarian and security crisis that Haitians are going through.

He also pointed out that Rwanda (the 6th country with the most peacekeepers in the world) has publicly expressed its interest in helping Haiti.

In the Caribbean, "[...] Jamaica and the Bahamas, among others, have said they are ready to send men to support the National Police of Haiti. The problem is that the Haitian political elites cannot come to an agreement..." which prevents any intervention...

In addition, Roberto Álvarez indicated that the closure of the Dominican Consulates in Haiti was temporary when the crisis began and that now the Dominican Consulates were functioning normally.
