For the time being, the Meteorological Unit of Haiti is closely monitoring the evolution of weather conditions and is making arrangements to regularly inform the population. It also encourages citizens of the safety instructions issued by the competent authorities. Emergency response teams remain mobilized to provide support to affected communities and to continue assessing the damage caused by these torrential rains. Under the General Directorate of Civil Protection, the various partners of the National Risk and Disaster Management System are mobilizing at the National Emergency Operation Center (COUN) to coordinate urgent responses in terms of shelter, food and hygiene products and drinking water for the benefit of those affected. The DGPC would like to remind the population of the importance of remaining vigilant in the face of hydro-meteorological hazards that could occur at any time. It is essential to follow the recommendations of the local authorities in terms of flood risk prevention and evacuation. It also takes the opportunity to remind those exposed to not cross flooded waterways and wild waters under any circumstances.
